Trevor Collins receives National Award!

Many congratulations to Head Coach Trevor Collins who, only shortly after winning the Southern Region BBC Unsung Hero Award, has gone on to take the overall National Award as well.

Trevor attended the BBC Sports Review of the Year show which revealed the BBC National Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday December 11th and received his award live on national television.

Trevor attended with his wife Anne, who has also given over 25 years commitment to West Wight Swimming Club and Trevor paid tributes to her efforts also in his acceptance speech.

Many of WWSC were attending their Club Awards evening at Gurnard Pines. Although very strange not having Trevor and Anne in attendance, everyone watched the evening's proceedings live on a small TV and a huge cheer went up when it was announced Trevor had won.

As well as meeting and being photographed with football legends Jose Mourhino and Pele, another highlight of the evening for Trevor was a special mention from Lord Coe in his acceptance speech, praising the efforts of Britain's volunteers in sport in relation to the Country's successful Olympic bid for 2012.

Well done Trevor! We are all extremely proud of you.
